We learn more by listening than by talking.
Next time you feel the need to talk during a one-on-one, in a meeting or on a call, ask yourself:
Why Am I Talking?
If you are not adding value, let the conversation be about the other person.

Hi! I’m Kelsey Myers, the newest member to team Ward Certified!
Here’s the skinny on me….I graduated from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington with a major in Communication Studies, and an emphasis on Public Speaking. I moved to Florida right after graduation to the most magical place on earth, Walt Disney World! I’ve had some real jobs too (retail, law firms and a Pharma call center), so I understand the challenges of the workplace. I am getting my RYT 200 yoga teaching certification and I’m openly addicted to gummy bears.
That's me in the black suit at the front of room.

I’m looking forward to meeting you on webinar or in a training room soon!
Warmly, Kelsey
Wow, that sounds good right?
Consider the last time you read an article, an email tip, or attended training.
Did you hear something you knew already? Probably.
Did it make you feel good, knowledgeable, validated, maybe even superior? Ya, that happens to most of us.
But do you do it?
For example: When I hear that the best way to lose weight is to burn more calories than I take in.
Do I know this? Yes.
Do I do this? Well no, not consistently.
That second question is about taking action and using that knowledge.
Next time you are sitting in training, or listening to your boss, team member, or client, don’t just congratulate yourself on what you knew. Instead look for ways to DO what you are hearing.
Ask yourself "do I do this?", "when should I do this?" and even "how will I do this?"
Those questions, compared to "do I know this?", will move you to act.

Chances are you spent a considerable amount of time developing your 2015 forecasts and budgets. Now is a great time to turn those goals into actionable monthly targets and share them with the team. Make them clear and communicate them often.
Tip: post goals on the walls as a visual, daily reminder. It helps people make smart decisions throughout the day!
Wishing you a healthy, prosperous and fun 2015!

In appreciation of your readership, support, collaboration and friendship, a donation has been made to the USO and to the Durham Rescue Mission.
We wish you a very Happy Holiday season and a peaceful and prosperous New Year.

Let’s play a word association game.
What’s the first word that comes to mind when you hear the word conflict?
Disagreement? Dispute? Clash? Argument? What? did you say someone's name?
If you associate conflict with a person there might be trouble on your team. Is there is a person(s) who spends a bit too much time gossiping, placing blame on others or even undermining others?
If so, you need to deal with it.
Remind your group of your expectations and the need to respect others in the workplace. Tell them they don’t all have to like each other BUT they do have to work together and behave appropriately.
Today, switch your thinking. Aim to think of the word conflict as a means to conversation. Notice the problems and turn them into a reason to sit down and find solutions. Your staff will appreciate it and appreciate you.
Grumpy Cat is an internet sensation. A grumpy team member - not quite so much fun.
Don't underestimate the effect an unhappy employee can have on the whole team. If you're working with someone who is casting negative vibes around the office like pixie dust, it's time to take some action to turn that frown upside down!
Here's some ideas to get things back on track:
Take them from this: :-( to this: :-) and watch the ripple effect on the whole team.
