  •  In person speaking easier than virtual as I’m a “walking talker”, love eye contact etc. Any tips for making this easier online where space is limited and you need to remain on camera?

Ann Says: Ah yes, the walk and talk. Let’s start by understanding why you like to walk and talk. Are you trying to pump up the energy? Remember your words? Spot money on the stage? If your goal is to add energy, look for places to breathe. End of a story, end of a sentence, after a powerful example. Stopping to breathe adds energy.

If you’ve moving to remember your words, try focusing on transitions. Having a clear outline or throughline will help you remember where you were, were you are and where you are going.

As for movement. Move in, lower your volume for more genuine moments. Sit back with larger gestures to welcoming, joy, big ideas.

  • Any tips for managing multiple presentations in a single week on different topics? E.g. I have 3 sometimes 4 presentations/round tables at a time.

Ann Says: I hear ya! With so many events going virtual, many SME’s are being asked to present multiple topics. Compartmentalize. Put each presentation and all correspondence and research into a paper or virtual folder. Work on one folder at a time. Set out time to work on each with a break in between. That break might be netflix, work calls, or a walk. But do something different than powerpoint to stay fresh.
